State police announced Wednesday they have four confirmed cases of COVID-19 within their agency.

One of the cases was at the training academy in Meriden, and the others were troopers from Troop G in Bridgeport, Troop L in Litchfield and the 129th training troop, which was training remotely, according to a statement. State police said all those involved have been in self-quarantine since the onset of symptoms and are expected to make a full recovery.

State police noted it was “not unexpected given the nature of this virus’ transmission.” They encourage residents and employees to maintain social distancing, wash hands for at least 20 seconds and to stay home if possible.
