MERIDEN — Three men were arrested alongside three juveniles on Monday after a car stolen out of West Hartford crashed into a utility pole, police said.
Robert Barbera, 18, Jeremy Gonzalez-Torres, 18, and Miguel Angel Acevedo Jr., 20, were detained and handed a wide breadth of charges.
Police responded to a report of a crashed vehicle and multiple males fleeing from the scene of the accident at 2:38 p.m. Officers discovered an automobile that had crashed into a utility pole. Police did not disclose the location of the incident.
According to police, officers determined the vehicle in question was stolen out of West Hartford.
Officers found Gonzalez-Torres, Barbera and three juveniles attempting to enter a vehicle driven by Acevedo after combing the area and detained the six individuals.
Acevedo was charged with risk of injury to a minor, interfering with police, reckless driving, and engaging police in pursuit. He is being held on $75,000 bond. His attorney for previous legal matters could not be reached for comment.
Barbera was charged with first-degree larceny, first-degree conspiracy to commit larceny, interfering with police, and risk of injury to a minor. He is being held on $75,000 bond. His attorney was not listed and he could not be reached for comment.
Gonzalez-Torres was charged with first-degree larceny, first-degree conspiracy to commit larceny, interfering with police, and risk of injury to a minor. He is being held on $75,000 bond. His attorney could not be reached for comment.
All three juveniles involved were charged with first-degree larceny, first-degree conspiracy to commit larceny, interfering with police and possession of marijuana. Police said they were each released to their parents.
