DJ Roger El Capi hosted Meriden’s first El Sabor Latino de Connecticut EXPO FEST at 680 Old Colony Road in Meriden on Sunday. The event attracted about 200 attendees and featured food trucks, music, local businesses, and a performance from a Spanish-speaking clown.

Yael Cano of Viva la Vida Mexican tacos in Meriden sells aguas frescas so event attendees can stay cool in the 90-degree heat. Cano said the business started to pick up after Viva la Vida won a taco competition in December. “Even we’re surprised,” he said. “People come and then come back.”
