Body found in reservoir at Giuffrida Park in Meriden

MERIDEN — Water department employees found a body floating in the reservoir at Giuffrida Park Monday morning, according to police.

Deputy Fire Chief Ryan Dunn said the firefighters used a boat to recover the body at the park, 800 Westfield Road. The body was found near the dam, Police Sgt. Darrin McKay said.

McKay said the deceased was a man believed to be in his 70s or 80s, wearing pajamas and a robe. Foul play is not suspected and the park remained open.

The state medical examiner was called to scene.

Police are not aware of any reports of a missing person, but are checking with local nursing and group homes, McKay said.
