Man shot in Meriden on Saturday

MERIDEN — A man suffered non life-threatening injuries when he was shot in the leg Saturday morning.

Around 9:50 a.m., police received numerous calls of gunshots fired in the area of South Colony Road and Cooper Street. When officers arrived, a vehicle was seen leaving the area at a high rate of speed, police said.  

Officers were able to make contact with the occupants of the vehicle and discovered a man with a gunshot wound to the leg was in the vehicle and being taken to the hospital, poilce said. 

After emergency medical workers treated the victim, he was transported to the Hartford Hospital with non life-threatening injuries, police said.

Police are asking any residents in the area with home surveillance systems to check their cameras around the time of the incident. The lead detective, Detective Visconti, can be contacted at (203) 630 – 6252.  All calls will remain anonymous, police said.
