Cash in spare change for a good cause

Through March 31, local residents can help make a difference in their communities by cashing in spare change. As part of its Coins-for-Change program, Connex Credit Union will collect its regular coin-cashing machine fees and donate 100 percent of the money to three charitable organizations.

Coins-for-Change supports three new charities each quarter and contributes more than $14,000 annually. All are invited to donate.

“Participating in Coins-for-Change is an easy way for folks to help worthwhile causes while putting a little extra money in your pocket,” said Louise Nestor, director of marketing, Connex Credit Union. “Small change can really add up and help make a big difference in your local community.”

Connex’s North Haven Branch, 412 Washington Ave., will donate to The National Veterans Council for Legal Redress. NVCLR serves on the frontlines of the veterans homelessness crisis by providing direct safety net service to disabled veterans.

Under the Veteran Living Communities initiative, NVCLR plans to construct an affordable, accessible, multi-family housing unit for up to four qualifying veterans.
