Brothers open Crumbl Cookies on Universal Drive

Earlier this month, brothers Justin and Scott Cinnamon, opened one of the fastest-growing cookie franchises – Crumbl Cookies – in North Haven. The Universal Drive location is their newest site.

The brothers, from Ridgefield, opened up their first Crumbl Cookies store in Danbury in May. They plan to open a third shop in Stamford.

As for the North Haven site, Scott said, “With the colleges and community, we felt this would be a great fit for the area.”

On Friday, July 15, they celebrated their North Haven location with a grand opening.

“We’re super excited and have been planning and building this store for the last six months. There were delays, but we’re finally here and excited,” Scott said.

The North Haven store is 1,900 square feet, while typically bakeries run about 1,400 square feet. What is unique about Crumbl Cookies is that they do all their cooking for customers to see as they wait at the counter.

First Selectman Mike Freda was among the customer who attended the shop’s grand opening. “We are delighted to have Crumbl Cookies here in town as part of our business community,” Freda said. “This new and unique business has already captured a great deal of excitement here in town. I have said to the owner that we are honored to have them open their very popular business here in town”.

The company has over 200 flavors of cookies to choose from and each week they rotate six flavors.

“Everything is made fresh in-house,” Scott said. “Sometimes we run out as we sell thousands of cookies a day, but within 10-15 minutes, we have a new batch ready.”
“It’s a family business,” Scott said about the Crumbl Cookies company. “It started with two cousins - Jason McGowan and Sawyer Hemsley – in 2017 out of Utah, so it’s the heart of the family businesses of Crumbl.”

Crumbl Cookies originally went viral in 2017 on social media website TikTok when the cousins decided to take their “perfect cookie quest” to people. They gathered feedback and tested recipes as part of their process.

According to their website, it was important to the cousins that Crumbl customers see the cookies being mixed, balled, baked, and dressed in real time.

The cousins of the brand serve as CEO and COO. They have 5.5 million followers on TikTok, showing off many of their treats like the frosted strawberry Pop Tart, double fudge brownie, lemon cupcake, peanut butter mystery cookie, milk chocolate chip, and chocolate toffee cake. According to its website, the brand has more than 517 bakeries in 46 states.

Cookie delivery is available as is curbside pickup. The shop also will ship cookies and cater events.

Crumbl Cookies is located at 411 Universal Dr. N, unit 209; open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 12 a.m., and closed on Sunday.  The phone number is 203-909-6481.
