This year’s Economic Development Commission Fall Breakfast later this month might come with an announcement about the addition of an 80,000 square foot retailer to town.

“If so, you’ll see a surprise visitor and I’ll introduce them and talk about what we’ve been working on for months,” First Selectman Michael Freda said at a recent commission meeting.

The breakfast is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 24.

Freda also announced that La Lupa’s, the new restaurant from the owners of Adriana’s, is planning on opening at the end of October. The restaurant will be located in a Route 5 plaza across from Big Y.

The Economic Development Commission was recently recognized at the Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce Awards Luncheon. The town, Amazon and Rebbina Properties & Hillwood, received the Developer Investment Award for the collaboration that brought the Amazon fulfillment center to North Haven.

“It’s great that all of the organizations are being recognized because it was a collaborative project for sure,” said EDC Chairman Richard LoPresti.
