North Haven Republicans re-elected

While Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 8, proved to be a good one for Connecticut Democrats, North Haven Republican Paul Cicarella managed to cruise to reelection.

Cicarella easily bested his Green Party opponent David Bedell in the 34th Senate District. Unofficial results show Cicarella winning that race by more than 22,000 votes.

“I am honored to earn another term as your state senator,” Cicarella stated on social media. “I’m excited to continue my work to represent all families in the 34th as your voice at the capitol. To the many supporters, thank you for getting out to the polls yesterday to make your voices heard. To all the tremendous volunteers: my thanks and sincere appreciation for your hours spent making calls, knocking on doors, and putting up signs to spread our message.”

The 34th Senate District includes Wallingford, North Haven, Durham and East Haven. Cicarella first claimed his seat in 2020.

Another North Haven Republican, state Rep. Dave Yaccarino, also was reelected Nov. 8. Yaccarino has represented the 87th District since 2010. This year he ran unopposed and generated some 9,000 votes in the North Haven-only district.
