NORTH HAVEN — A lightning strike knocked out power to a section of town on Monday.

North Haven police sent a notice on social media about a lightning strike at the intersection of Route 5 and 22 (Washington Avenue and Clintonville Road).

Power outages were reported due to the strike, as well as a wire down, and traffic controls not functioning, police said. If possible, residents are asked to avoid the area.

While some parts had power quickly restored, there were still areas without power as of 4 p.m. Monday.
