North Haven Garden Club is happy to share the two entries we received for the National Garden Clubs Sculpture Contest. The contest encourages young people to keep our planet green and to get involved with saving the environment.

Students in grades 4 to 8 were eligible to create a sculpture of recyclable, reused and reduced materials. The local students who entered were fourth grader Savanna Alleyne and eighth grader Clarissa Kumar. Below is the impressive list of materials the students used to create the sculptures.

Savanna's list of materials: Styrofoam, cherry seeds, paint, rubber band, cardboard and a Starbucks straw.

Clarissa's list of materials: water bottle, water bottle caps, thread, paint, laundry bottle caps, glue and flowers.
