NORTH HAVEN – North Haven's inaugural Pride celebration will be held on the Town Green, Saturday, June 17, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The group North Haven Pride worked with local officials to plan the event.

"The LGBTQIA+ Community in North Haven are our friends, neighbors, co-workers and loved ones, and a key ingredient in what makes our town the very best in Connecticut," North Haven Pride stated. "This family-friendly and dog-friendly event will feature music, entertainment, food, vendors, healthcare resources, and a flag-raising ceremony overseen by First Selectman Mike Freda."

Pride Month is celebrated annually in June to honor the 1969 Stonewall Riots — a catalyst for the gay rights movement — and works to achieve equal justice and equal opportunity for all Americans.

In a social media post, The Town of North Haven said it invites residents to stop by the green on June 17 "for entertainment, arts and crafts, great food from wonderful North Haven restaurants, and more, as we celebrate North Haven’s vibrant LGBTQ+ community."

Business sponsorships and volunteer opportunities are available. Monetary donations up to $1,000 will be matched by a private donor.

Following the gathering on the green, North Haven Pride will host a 21-and-over party at 12% Beer Project, located at 341 State St.
