Marsh Marigold walk is slated for April 15

The North Haven Trail Association is sponsoring the annual Marsh Marigold walk on the Banton Quinnipiac Trail in Quinnipiac River State Park Saturday, April 15 at 9 a.m. Officially known as Lesser Celandine, acres of Marsh Marigold – tiny yellow flowers – bloom along the Quinnipiac River.

The NHTA will take you on a casual one-mile walk along the river to the Pines, and back along the roadway.

You’ll learn a little bit about the history of this abandoned neighborhood passing by the remnants of foundations, driveways that go nowhere, fences and flowers that once were planted at the home sites.

Abandoned in the 70s due to the rising river waters, the state then created the Quinnipiac River State Park.

Marsh Marigold walk participants will meet at the park entrance, which is located at the first right off Upper State Street as you turn north from Rt 22. Rain cancels.
