Pride gathering leaves organizers ‘beaming’

The rain predicted didn’t arrive, and North Haven’s inaugural Pride celebration featuring entertainment, arts, crafts and food from local eateries drew a crowd to the town green on June 17.

The group North Haven Pride worked with local officials to plan the event. “We are so humble in the face of what you all brought to the green this past Saturday,” North Haven Pride stated in a social media post.

The group added: “It exceeded our wildest expectations and we are still beaming off the joy and love y’all brought to our community.”

Following the gathering on the green, North Haven Pride hosted a 21-and-over party at 12% Beer Project, located at 341 State St.

Pride Month is celebrated annually in June to honor the 1969 Stonewall Riots — a catalyst for the gay rights movement — and works to achieve equal justice and equal opportunity for all Americans.
