Town will mail N95 masks to residents

The Town of North Haven is offering N95 protective masks to residents who did not receive them at the recent community distribution event.

"Our plan is to mail to you these masks directly to your home address. I would like to offer to those who were unable to receive masks on Monday evening up to six masks per household based on your family size," First Selectman Michael Freda said in a message posted to the municipal website.

N95 masks are designed to form a seal around the nose and mouth, creating efficient filtration of airborne particles. As the Omicron variant of COVID-19 continues to swirl through the U.S., various news outlets have reported that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is considering updating its guidance to recommend people opt for N95 or KN95 masks over other face-coverings.

North Haven residents who wish to receive N95 masks should email requestformasks@northhaven-ct.gov (include your name, address and the number of family members in your household), or call the town's Mask Request Hotline at 475-619-3376.

According to Freda, residents can expect to have masks delivered 10 to 12 days after making a request.

Along with N95 masks, at-home COVID test kits also were handed out to residents on Jan. 10.

"[I]f our town does receive firm confirmation regarding us taking delivery of another allocation of test kits, we will be back in touch with you with another plan of distribution for those who were unable to receive them on Monday evening,” Freda stated. "I thank you for your patience during these unprecedented times."
