School community rallies for ‘PJ Day for the Kids’

On Dec. 10, Plainville schools participated in the statewide “PJ Day for the Kids” fundraiser to support children fighting cancer at the Connecticut Children's Hospital in Hartford.

Donations from Plainville schools and the broader community totaled more than $9,325, putting the town in the Top 5 across the state.

On “PJ Day for the Kids,” Louis Toffolon Elementary School received a special visit from Kiss 95.7 DJ Adam Rivers.

District staff coordinated his visit to surprise first grader Adrianna Gerlat, who is waging a brave fight against leukemia. Unfortunately, Adrianna could not be in school that day, as she had to spend some time in the hospital. She was discharged a few days later, however, and is doing well.
