PLAINVILLE — A woman faces charges after police said she filled a cart with almost $1,000 worth of merchandise and walked out of Lowe’s without paying.

Crystal Davis, 40, of Hartford, was charged Monday with second-degree robbery, fifth-degree larceny, breach of peace, and second-degree reckless endangerment.

An employee at Lowe’s, 246 New Britain Ave., told police Davis put merchandise in a cart and left without paying, according to a police report.

When an employee confronted her outside of the store, Davis pulled out pepper spray and threatened to use it, the report said. Davis then said she would use another item, motioning to her waistband.

A witness confirmed the employee’s account and told police they saw Davis pull a knife from her pants and drop it down a storm drain. Police recovered a knife from the drain, the report said.

The total value of the stolen merchandise was about $964, the report said. Her bond was set at $100,000.
