BERLIN – Plainville High School alum Dr. Mark DiLoreto and business partner Brian Fitzsimmons have opened Visionary Eyecare of Kensington at 359 Main St. The office is located in a remodeled space once occupied by another eye doctor, Fitzsimmons’ father, the late Dr. John Fitzsimmons.
Visionary Eyecare held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on June 23.
“Everyone kind of knows that this is the place where the local eye doctor is,” Economic Development Director Chris Edge said. “So it’s nice that it has gone down from one to another to another. It’s very exciting.”
A resident of Berlin for some five years, DiLoreto said he lives “two minutes down the road” from his new office. The doctor’s sons attend Willard Elementary School. “[S]o it just made sense to be involved in this community and be a part of the town,” said DiLoreto, who has another Visionary Eyecare office in Wallingford.
Born in New Britain and raised in Plainville, DiLoreto graduated from the New England College of Optometry in 2009 and has been seeing patients ever since.
Also, DiLoreto is a captain in the Air National Guard and serves as chief optometrist at the Bradley Air National Guard Base.
“I couldn’t do this without the love and support of my wife and children,” the busy doctor said.
Visionary Eyecare of Kensington boasts all-new equipment and a broad selection of eyeglass frames.
“We have something for every budget,” Brian Fitzsimmons said. “We carry about five times more frames than we used to carry, and it makes a big difference – you have to have a selection.”
