The Plainville High School Chamber Choir will join the New Britain Symphony Orchestra for a Sunday, April 30 concert entitled Dvorak & Gershwin: New Beginnings. Under the direction of Todd Helming, the Chamber Choir will perform Oscar Peterson’s Hymn to Freedom and Bonse Aba, a traditional Zambian folk song. The Berlin High School Madrigals and the Children’s Chorus from the University of Hartford also will perform.
The New Britain Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of Maestro Toshiyuki Shimada, will perform George Gershwin’s American in Paris, Antonin Dvorak’s New World Symphony and Polina Nazaykinskaya’s Tales of Sorrow.
The concert will take place at 3 p.m. at Welte Hall on the campus of Central Connecticut State University. Tickets are $25 and may be purchased at the door, or online at newbritainsymphony.org.
