Town’s bulk trash pickup has begun

Residents who have curbside rubbish and recycling collection from the town can request one bulk pickup per calendar year, free of charge, in the spring or fall. 

The on-demand fall bulk pickup began Sept. 13 and runs Mondays through Nov. 1. To schedule a pickup, call CWPM at 860-793-6721. 

Acceptable items for disposal:

Appliance/furniture: Limit three per household. Doors must be removed. Weight restricted to manual lifting by two persons. (Note: If disposing of a sleeper sofa, metal bed frame must be removed/separated from the sofa shell).

Tires/rims: Limit two per household. Passenger tires only. Tires must be removed from rims.

Miscellaneous iron/steel: Maximum length, six feet. Weight restricted to manual lifting by two persons.

Mattresses/box springs: Limit two per household. Weight restricted to manual lifting by two persons.

Brush/branches/natural wood fencing: Must be in lengths of four feet or less and no larger than six inches in diameter. Fencing must be no larger than 3x5 feet.

Barrels/drums: Cleaned, both ends removed.

Items should be placed curbside not more than 24 hours before your collection date.

Keep miscellaneous iron/steel and tires separate from bulk. Bulk items must not block sidewalks or walkways, or create a safety concern.
