PLAINVILLE — Local police have arrested a second person in connection with a May fentanyl-related overdose.

Sean Stagis, 32, of 26 Burnham St., was charged May 1 with distribution of narcotics, reckless endangerment, and possession of a controlled substance, according to a police press release.

On May 1, there was a near-fatal heroin/fentanyl overdose on Diamond Avenue. Stagis, who had been at the house as a guest, brought the fentanyl that caused the victim to overdose, according to an arrest warrant.

While providing medical aid, police saw drug paraphernalia consistent with heroin and fentanyl use inside the room where the overdose took place, the warrant said.

When police searched a vehicle Stagis had parked outside, they found approximately 9.8 grams of fentanyl, the warrant said.

Police previously arrested Matthew Alyward, of Bristol, on charges related to drug possession and distribution related to the incident.

Stagis was released on $10,000 bond and is due to appear in New Britain Superior Court on July 15, 2020.
