Firefighters extinguish car fire at Southington Dunkin’ drive-thru

SOUTHINGTON — Firefighters extinguished a car fire in the drive-through of the Dunkin’ Donuts on Meriden-Waterbury Turnpike Monday afternoon.

No injuries were reported.

Firefighters said the car was engulfed in flames when they arrived shortly after 12:30 p.m. The fire was extinguished minutes later. Deputy Fire Chief Scott Dibattista said the car was in the drive-through, a short distance back from the pickup windows.

There was some cosmetic damage to the side of the building, but no structural damage, Dibattista said. Representatives from the health and building departments responded to assess the damage. The business, 262 Meriden-Waterbury Turnpike, was closed for a short time.

The fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
