SOUTHINGTON — A man charged in connection with an assault that left a man with a fractured skull and brain hemorrhage appeared in New Britain Superior Court last week.
Landin Rutledge, 23, of 16 Union St., Bristol was charged on Sept. 11, 2018 with first- and second-degree assault. He previously pleaded not guilty to the charges and posted $75,000 bond.
Rutledge appeared in court Feb. 19 and had his case continued to March 10, according to court documents.
The assault occurred around 1:45 a.m. on Aug. 19, 2018. Rutledge was involved in an argument with a group of men at 75 Center, a downtown bar and restaurant, according to his arrest warrant. The argument escalated outside as two groups of men walked to a nearby parking lot.
Witnesses told police Rutledge struck a man in the head and then kicked him in the head when he was on the ground and unconscious, the warrant said.
One of the victim’s relatives told police the injured man was hospitalized for five days with a skull fracture and hemorrhagic contusions to his brain, the warrant said.
