Police: Hartford man injured in crash on I-691 E Tuesday night

SOUTHINGTON — A Hartford man was injured Tuesday night after the car he was driving struck another vehicle on Interstate 691.

Olga Madera, a Meriden resident, was driving a Nissan Sentra on I-691 east by exit 3 just before 9 p.m. when she was struck from behind by a Ford Focus driven by Ibrahim Elmali, of Hartford, according to state police. Madera’s vehicle rolled, but she and a passenger did not report any injuries.

Fire crews from Southington and Cheshire responded.

Elmali was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury for treatment of a suspected serious injury, state police said. Anyone with information is asked to contact Trooper Jankowski at Troop I, 203-393-4200.
