SOUTHINGTON — A man faces charges after police said he was involved in an assault and robbery in August on Mark Drive.
Karon Grimes, 19, address unknown, was charged Wednesday with first-degree robbery, third-degree larceny and conspiracy.
On Aug. 21 around 11:40 p.m. police responded to the area of Mark Drive for a report of a large group fighting. Police investigating determined a group of men went to a party on Mark Drive and while they were leaving were called over to a vehicle, Lt. Keith Egan said in a statement. The men said another man asked if they wanted to smoke. The men said two men got out of a vehicle and they recognized one of the suspects as a childhood friend, Egan noted.
The men greeted each other and the second male suspect pulled out a pistol and demanded the men’s belongings, Egan said. The second male suspect threatened the men, who turned over their belongings including a phone, wallet, satchel and shoes. A second man was struck with the gun before the two suspects fled.
Police identified one of the suspects as Grimes. The second suspect was also identified by police, but was killed on Oct. 12 in a separate incident, Egan noted. That suspect’s identity has not been released.
Grimes was held on $350,000 bond. He was scheduled to appear in New Superior Court on Wednesday.
