Public hearing on Southington’s budget scheduled for Monday

SOUTHINGTON — Residents can weigh in on the town’s proposed budget for the upcoming fiscal year at a Town Council public hearing Monday.

The Board of Finance proposed a $153.8 million budget earlier this month that would require a 1.3 percent increase in the tax rate.

The public hearing is scheduled for the John Weichsel Municipal Center, 200 N. Main St., at 7 p.m.

Also this week owners of a planned LongHorn Steakhouse on West Street are going before the Zoning Board of Appeals Tuesday for an application to add liquor sales. The Planning and Zoning Commission approved the restaurant at 200 Executive Boulevard last month.

The ZBA is scheduled to meet Tuesdayat 7 p.m. at the John Weichsel Municipal Center, 200 N. Main St.
