SOUTHINGTON — Town fire officials say a driver has been transported to a hospital after sustaining unknown injuries from crashing into a tree.

The crash occurred around 7:24 p.m. in the area of 344 Savage Street. The driver was extricated from the vehicle in about 6 minutes. A second passenger was not transported to a hospital, according to a fire official.

Savage Street remained closed as of 9 p.m. as emergency crews investigated the scene and removed the vehicle.
