Emergency crews cap gas main break on West Main Street in Southington

SOUTHINTON  — Firefighters responded after construction crews struck a gas line on West Main Street Tuesday morning. 

The gas main break was reported around 10:30 a.m. The line involved supplies gas to 35 West Main St.

The gas company was on scene about 30 minutes later and capped the leak.  

The fire department checked nearby businesses for gas levels and determined them safe. 

A lane at the intersection of West Main Street and Route 10 was closed due to the work.
