SOUTHINGTON — A local man is facing charges after police said he refused to leave a neighbor’s property.

James McCool, 53, of 710 Old Turnpike Rd., was charged July 15 with second-degree breach of peace, first-degree criminal trespass and second-degree threatening.

Police said they responded to a home on Old Turnpike Road around 2 p.m. July 15 on a report that McCool was in a neighbor’s yard and refusing to leave. The neighbor said they previously told McCool he was not welcome.

McCool reportedly began to move towards the homeowner “in a threatening manner,” according to a police press release.

Police say McCool posted a $10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in New Britain Court on Sept. 18.
