EAST HARTFORD — American Eagle Credit Union is giving its members a chance to determine which nonprofits the credit union will support.

The program – titled Cash Back to the Community – let’s members vote for three nonprofits each quarter. American Eagle will give these organizations 1 percent of all income from debit and credit card interchange.

“... we are always concentrated on making the places where we live and work better,” said Dean Marchessault, president and chief executive officer of American Eagle Financial Credit Union. “Cash Back to the Community expands American Eagle’s philanthropic efforts by inviting our members and public to play an active and engaged role in helping steer where the new funding will be used.”

When it opened in town, American Eagle donated to Ulbrich Boys & Girls Club, the Diaper Bank of Connecticut and SARAH in Action.

“Our branch managers and their teams are deployed into their communities to really engage with them and make sure that we’re giving back,” said Anne-Marie Katzer, vice president of retail sales and service. “So we’re really excited to partner with communities and offer that.”

To nominate a local nonprofit you can visit American Eagle’s website at www.americaneagle.org/Cashbacktothecommunity.
