HARTFORD (AP) — A 29-year old Naval technician was sentenced Monday to 18 months in federal prison for sexually abusing a teenage boy at the U.S. Naval Submarine Base in Groton.

Chazzman Chung, of Groton, pleaded guilty in February to one count of sexual abuse of a minor.

Prosecutors said Chung met the boy, who was then 13, using the Grindr online dating app and sexually abused him in the submarine base’s barracks in December 2018.

The victim’s Grindr profile indicated that he was 18 years old, but he told Chung that he was 14, prosecutors said.

Chung was arrested on state charges in April 2019, and on a federal criminal complaint six months later.

U.S. District Court Judge Michael Shea ordered Chung to report to prison in 90 days.
