Power has been restored to just over 100,000 Eversource customers across the state since yesterday. 

Restoration efforts have continued in local towns. Cheshire had about 1,000 people restored between 8 a.m. Thursday and 11:45 a.m. Friday, according to data from the Eversource outage maps. About 4,000 customers were restored in Meriden and about 2,000 customers were restored in Southington, according to the data. 

As of 11:30 a.m. Thursday, crews had restored power to more than 332,000 customers and about 533,000 customers remained without power, Gross said. As of 11:45 a.m. Friday there were about 414,800 customers still out, according to the company’s data. Eversource estimates it will make significant progress by the end of the weekend and have the restoration “substantially complete” by Tuesday at 11:59 p.m., Gross said in a statement. Many customers are expected to be restored before that time, Gross noted. Substantially complete means that fewer than one per cent of customers are without power. 

“More than 700 crews are working urgently to repair the widespread damage to the electric system caused by Tropical Storm Isaias,” Gross said in the statement. “Significant numbers of additional out-of-state mutual aid crews are arriving Friday and will increase the available crew resources to 1,189. As of 9 p.m., the energy company has restored power to more than 435,000 customers since the storm began while operating under strict COVID-19 pandemic safety protocols.” 

“We know how urgently our customers need power and we will work tirelessly – with every crew and resource we can muster – until they all have power again,” said Eversource President of Regional Electric Operations Craig Hallstrom said in the statement. “With crews from Canada, Michigan and Massachusetts working alongside our Eversource crews, we remain laser focused on this restoration and are committed to staying on the job around-the-clock until every customer has power back. We are grateful to our customers for their patience and recognize the tremendous inconvenience that being without electricity presents during the ongoing pandemic and hot days of summer.”

Issues related to Eversource’s outage reporting system have been resolved and the energy company encourages customers to report any outage online at www.eversource.com, or by calling 800-286-2000, Gross said. 

Southington PowerSports LLC posted on the Southingotn community forum on Facebook that they had three generators they are loaning out for free to residents that have medical needs, including a free delivery.
