SALISBURY (AP) — Connecticut authorities on Sunday evening received several unconfirmed reports of a tornado in the northwestern part of the state. There were no immediate reports of injuries.
State police said a possible tornado reportedly touched down around the Falls Village section of Salisbury, including near the Lime Rock Park auto racing track. Trees and utility wires were reported down in the area. Video of what appeared to be a tornado in the area was posted on social media.
The National Weather Service had issued a tornado watch for sections of western New England and eastern New York state on Sunday and issued a tornado warning for part of northwestern Connecticut early in the evening as strong thunderstorms moved through the region.
A tornado warning also was issued for a portion of western Massachusetts, where trees and wires were reported down near Sandisfield.
