Community members dispose of 175 lbs. of medication

DMLWC and DMYFS wish to thank the community members who participated in the DEA Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, Oct. 23. This year we collected 175 pounds of unused medications!

DEA’ Take Back events have been extremely successful in not only removing potentially dangerous unused drugs from medicine cabinets, but also in raising awareness of their link to addiction and overdose deaths.

Thank you to Middlefield Resident State Trooper Matthew O’Brien for hosting this event and for helping to keep our community safe every day.

If you or someone you know was unable to attend the DEA Drug Take Back Day and would like to dispose of medications safely at home, email Dena Miccinello, DMLWC’s Prevention Coordinator, at for a free Deterra Medication Disposal Bag.
