Durham Fair: ‘Growing Stronger’ at 101

With less than a week to go until the 2021 Durham Fair, local volunteers are getting ready and excited to be back at it after last year's cancellation due to the pandemic. This year, the theme is “Growing Stronger.” It seems fitting, as our local community puts in the extra effort to ensure our attendees, exhibitors and fairgoers can safely enjoy this year's event.

The Durham Fair is committed to following all recommended COVID guidelines:

Face masks are required on bus rides for both vaccinated and unvaccinated fairgoers.

Face masks are required for unvaccinated fairgoers in all indoor spaces, including buildings, barns and tents.

Social distancing is recommended whenever possible.

Sanitizing stations will be available throughout the fairgrounds.

Additionally, Griffin Hospital will be offering on-site vaccinations of all brands, near the White's Gate.

As for kicking off some “good, clean, wholesome fun,” this year's entertainment brings 40 toe-tapping musical acts across four stages, monster trucks and motorized events, a spectacular fireworks display on Thursday night, and of course, Military Appreciation Day is back on Sunday offering free admission for active military, as well as veterans Our livestock departments are always a big hit. And keep a lookout for the two sows and their piglets.

With a lot to celebrate as we welcome back this time-honored event, we hope our fair friends and family will join us. Don’t forget to bring your appetites and support our local non-profit organizations, too!

The fair begins Thursday, Sept. 23 and runs through Sunday, Sept. 26. Visit our website, durhamfair.com, for more details.

We look forward to an amazing 101st Durham Fair together.
