I am excited to run as a candidate for Alternate on the Durham Zoning Board of Appeals as a Democrat. I have served as Alternate on the ZBA since February 2020, and I’m looking forward to continuing my service.
As to qualifications, most important, I show up to meetings. Since I became an Alternate, I have been seated at every ZBA meeting held. I’m also a former real estate lawyer, having worked in both the private and public sectors, so I find land use issues fascinating and have skills useful to the ZBA’s work.
I have lived in Durham with my husband, Stephen, for 19 years, and we have two daughters attending RSD13 schools. I received a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center and a B.A. from Connecticut College, and now happily work as a yoga instructor and as the lead parent in our family.
Durham is a wonderful community in which to raise a family and I would like to see the town retain the rural and historic elements that make it special, while broadening its economic base. To keep our small community vibrant, it’s necessary for every resident to pitch in where they can, including local government. And I’m happy to volunteer my time here.
I hope you’ll vote for me on Nov. 2. Thank you.
