I am Durham native and graduated from CRHS in 2005. My wife Alycia and I have a young son who will be entering RSD13 schools soon, and we are committed to Durham for the long haul. I have been an active member of the fire department since graduation. I was an advisor for the Explorer program beginning in 2009 and was the lead advisor between 2012-2014 until I deployed to Afghanistan.
I have served two tours overseas with the Army, in Iraq and Afghanistan. I worked with the Iraq police doing toy and school supply drives for local schools and villages. I worked with the Afghanistan Army, training them and working in the prisons. Throughout my tours I found ways to donate my time, earning the Military Outstanding Volunteer Achievement Award for volunteering over 100 hours making "fuel doughnuts" for Afghan villagers.
Back home, I chair a chapter of the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association, an organization of vets helping vets.
With the financial uncertainty facing the nation, and declining enrollment in the district, I feel we need to be more fiscally responsible, and transparent. I look forward to supporting those efforts when elected to the Board of Education.
