Kristi Doerr replaces Mike Glidden as Wallingford Democratic Town Council candidate

WALLINGFORD — One Town Council candidate notified the Democratic Town Committee Friday that they are dropping out of the race.

Mike Glidden notified DTC Chairman Alida Cella Friday that he was withdrawing from the race "for personal reasons." Glidden couldn't be reached for comment Monday or Tuesday.

He will be replaced by Kristi Doerr, a certified public accountant and the tax director at Richemont North America, a company that deals with jewelry and fashion accessories. Prior to that, she worked at Deloitte Tax for 12 years and owned Keri's Sweet Creations from 2018 until this year.

She earned a bachelor's of science degree in accounting from UConn and a master's in taxation from Bentley University. She is a member of the Wallingford Public Library board of directors and owns Sammy's Closet, a charity benefiting foster children and families.

Doerr is currently the treasurer of the Democratic Town Committee.

Glidden was a member of the ARPA Selection Committee. After that committee voted to cease meeting in May after friction with the Town Council, he led a reconstituted committee made up of several committee members who agreed to keep working on the applications remaining to be addressed. He also is Cheshire's town planner. He was endorsed to run for a council seat at the DTC caucuses in July.

"I'm thrilled that Kristi Doerr has thrown her hat in the ring for Town Council," Cella said in a release. "As a local businesswoman and mother of a school-age child, she understands what residents need from our town councilors and will be an incredible asset to Wallingford."

Doerr also could not be reached for comment.
