Tool store to expand into Wallingford plaza

WALLINGFORD — Harbor Freight Tools will be opening its newest location in Wallingford this winter, bringing up to 30 new jobs. 

“We’ve been looking to open a location in Wallingford for a number of years so that we can provide the tools and equipment at tremendous values to the community,” said Trey Feiler, the company’s senior vice president for real estate and construction. “In addition to finding a great location, we were attracted by the availability of great associates in the Wallingford area, and we look forward to having them joining the Harbor Freight team.”

Harbor Freight Tools will open in the Kohl’s Plaza on South Broad Street. It will occupy the the vacant space between Sally’s and Aldi. Construction is currently underway and the store expect to open in January.  

The store sells a wide variety of equipment and tools for things like electrical, auto and plumbing. Customers can also find water and sump pumps, generators and auto accessories. 

The business plans on hiring up to 30 workers. Harbor Freight is accepting applications now for sales and logistics supervisors, sales associates and seasonal positions through its website. 

Mayor William W. Dickinson Jr. said Harbor Freight will be great addition. 

“We are very pleased, that is a good location with Kohl’s and Aldi in that plaza,” Dickinson said. “We welcome another destination for people that are need in goods and services.”

There are currently 10 Harbor Freight locations across the state, including Bristol, Waterbury and Berlin.
