WALLINGFORD — A redesign of the town website featuring a more mobile-friendly layout went live this week.
Lynn Wolff, program planning office secretary, said Friday the redesign was a team effort involving a committee of staff from her office, Government Access TV, the mayor’s office and other town departments.
“We’ve just pulled all the stuff from our old website, hopefully it’s all there,” Wolff said. “We’ve just organized it a little differently and they did a beautiful job of the setup.”
Although the new website went live Thursday, it’s still being tinkered with, she added.
New features include a “Find It Fast” section with tax and utility bill payment, birth, marriage and death certificates, voting and elected officials.
“We thought that would help the residents find certain items,” Wolff said.
New drop-down menus offer information geared toward residents and businesses, as well as town history, town government and a phone directory of departments and community services.
A new calendar can switch easily between government meetings and town events.
Wolff said the redesign was made possible by a new content management system. The old system was close to 10 years old.
“We took our website and we merged it as best we could into this new system,” Wolff said. “It’s a newer system, so it has more icons than words.”
