WALLINGFORD — A local man faces charges after police said his gun discharged at an apartment complex.
Tyreak Rasard Wiggins, 24, of 42 Knollwood Drive., was charged Feb. 17 with illegal discharge of a firearm and second-degree reckless endangerment.
Police responded to the Knollwood Apartments on Feb. 17 after a resident heard a loud bang and found a bullet hole in her bedroom wall, Sgt. Stephen Jacques said in a press release.
Wiggins, who police identified as a resident of the complex, said he accidentally fired a round from a firearm while he was inside his apartment, Jacques said. He told police he was attempting to clear a round from the chamber before cleaning it and accidentally hit the trigger,
Wiggins was released on $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on March 12.
