WALLINGFORD — Two men are facing burglary charges after police say they broke into a liquor store on Saturday.

Just after midnight, Wallingford police responded to One Stop Liquor, 1056 S. Colony Road, for a burglar alarm and found the front window of the business was smashed, police said.

Later that day, police located and arrested 36-year-old East Haven resident Daniel Girdzis and 35-year-old West Haven resident Adis Kacar. Both were taken into custody in New Haven and taken back to Wallingford.

Police said the arrests were part of a joint investigation into a string of commercial burglaries. Wallingford, Guilford and North Branford police took part in the investigation.

Girdzis and Kacar were both charged with third-degree burglary, third-degree larceny, criminal mischief, possession of a controlled substance, third-degree conspiracy to commit burglary, conspiracy to commit criminal mischief, and third-degree conspiracy to commit larceny.

Kacar was already wanted on an outstanding warrant for a probation violation.

Kacar was given a $80,000 bond, while Girdzis was given a $50,000 bond. Both are due in Meriden Superior Court on March 19.
