Vehicle crash causes gas leak in Wallingford

WALLINGFORD — Emergency crews responded to Constitution Street Monday after a vehicle struck a residential gas line.

The crash occurred at 65 Constitution St. around 4 p.m. There were no injuries reported.

Firefighters evacuated homes in the area before natural gas service was shut off. Utility crews were called to the scene and a section of the road was closed.

The driver of the vehicle was not cited, officials said.

Constitution Street runs between Center and East Main streets on the east side of town.
