WALLINGFORD — Firefighters quickly extinguished a fire that started on the rear exterior of a Regent Court home.

Fire Battalion Chief Patrick Haggerty said no residents were home at the time of the fire, which was reported at 12 Regent Court around 3:30 p.m.

Crews had to set up a tanker water supply because the cul-de-sac where the two-and-a-half story wood-frame house is located is not near a hydrant, Haggerty said. When firefighters arrived, the flames were extending outside the rear of the building toward the second floor.

After extinguishing the fire, firefighters forced their way into the home to make sure it hadn't spread to the interior, Haggerty said.

The fire marshal is investigating. Town building officials also responded.

“It's to soon to say what caused it,” Haggerty said.
