Wallingford landscaping business damaged by fire Monday morning

WALLINGFORD  — A landscaping business on North Cherry Street Extension was damaged by a fire early Monday morning.

There were no reported injuries. 

The fire at Northeast Landscaping LLC, 441 North Cherry Street Extension, was reported around 6:20 a.m. and was extinguished in around 30 minutes, according to Deputy Fire Chief Joseph Czentnar. The fire department remained on scene until around 8:30 a.m. 

The one-story building appeared unoccupied when firefighters arrived. Firefighters exercised caution to avoid overheating due to the hot weather.

The fire caused structural damage to the interior. Some equipment and a truck inside were also damaged. The fire marshal’s office is investigating.
