Yale Billiards in Wallingford to move to new location on North Plains Industrial Road

WALLINGFORD — After 25 years in its current location, Yale Billiards is preparing to relocate to North Plains Industrial Road next month.

Yale Billiards, 950 Yale Ave., will pack up all 15 pool tables and move to its new location at 169 North Plains Industrial Road in mid-November. Owner Bobby Hilton said keeping the business in town was crucial.

“We’ve been here for 25 years, and the people are phenomenal,” he said.

“I know my loyal base will come with me. Hopefully everyone comes with me.”

Those who do follow Hilton will have three more pool tables to choose from, a bigger bar area and a new menu. The new facility has 7,000 square feet, compared to 4,500 at the current location.

The new location will also feature a private room.

”That back room will be great for business or private parties for people to play their own games,” Hilton said.

Hilton said a bigger location was necessary because Yale Billiards is filled to capacity almost nightly, with a number of different leagues and regular customers. As rent continued to increase in the Yale Avenue plaza, Hilton thought it was time to buy his own place.

”We’re all very excited about the move,” said Darryl Helm, who has been shooting pool at Yale Billiards for over 20 years.  “It’s something Bobby has been excited about for a long time. It’s going to be even better at the new place.”

A goodbye party will be held on Nov. 2. Customers will have an opportunity to purchase decorations, video games, and even the bar before the building is emptied out.

Hilton estimates being closed for business for “a couple weeks” while the new location is set up, likely between Nov. 11 and 20.
