Gays making progress

Editor:

It is amazing and a great positive relief that, to a significant degree, gays of both sexes are beginning to achieve acceptance by many heterosexuals. We’re all human beings on this planet and under the same sun. I see this acceptance as a great positive advance for all mankind now and even more so as we advance into the future.

About the impeachment

Editor:

I have watched, as much as my life would allow me to, the impeachment hearings, and have come come away with a few observations.

First and foremost is that impeachment is Constitutional and legal. The Trump cult believes otherwise.

Secondly, the Trump cult says that the Democrats keep on changing the charges from “quid quo pro” to bribery to extortion to withholding Congressional approved aid to withholding evidence and barring witnesses to contempt of Congress to not honoring duly authorized subpoenas. All of which are grounds for impeachment, It was hard to settle on any one charge, that the House settled on two charges that encompass them all.

The Trump cult says we are trying to thwart the will of the people to overthrow the 2016 election. One cannot overthrow the election. It happened, like it or not. However, let’s be clear, the “people” did not elect Trump. Hillary Clinton got 3 million more votes than Trump.

Our archaic system for Presidential elections dictated that the Electoral Collage install Trump as POTUS. This is just plain stupid. If Trump is removed from office Pence becomes POTUS, not Hillary Clinton.

The Trump cult says that we have been trying to impeach trump since the day he took the oath of office.

That is because, from day one, he has been in violation of the “emoluments” clause of the Constitution. You know, the Constitution he took an oath to protect and defend. So much for that oath.

The Trump cult says this is the responsibility of the judicial courts. Of course they would say that, McConnell and Trump have packed the courts with so many Trump cultists that a judicial ruling is far from impartial.

Take back control

Editor:

I think it’s time for American citizens to take back the control of their government to insure the American Dream will be there for their children, grandchildren and longer. The most important thing is voting which should only be for legal American citizens we need to watch for voter fraud. The second is to control taxation and to do that you have to control the spending of our tax dollars.

Here is my idea for controlling taxation. Our elected public servants now have the power to raise taxes, increase spending with no control at all. It is all under them and this needs to change. What we need to do is have the public servants present to us their budget/spending plan all laid out with what the increase in taxes, permit fees, tolls and so on would be. Once this is done it is up for discussions by the citizens, the employer of the government, then on election day or a separate voting day the citizens vote to approve the budgets for the different departments. The public servants would now have to justify the spending and actually negotiate with contractors, unions and the rest rather than just agreeing to it because “we’ll just raise taxes.” If the budgets are voted down it is the will of the people and it will be up to the public servants to amend and renegotiate them to represent them to the people. This would apply to federal, state and municipalities.
