THURSDAY SCHOLASTICS: It’s A.J. all the way as Rams take Battle of The Farms



WALLINGFORD — In the Battle of The Farms Country Club, home to both the Cheshire and Sheehan golf teams, the Rams rode A.J. DePaolo’s medal round of 35 to a 160-194 victory Thursday over the Titans.

With the win, Cheshire capped a regular season without defeat at 15-0-1. Sheehan closed at 13-4.

Against Cheshire, Sheehan was paced by Drew Dellipoali’s 42. Ben Shoshani came in with a 47. Giada Izzo was a stroke back at 48 and Vinny Carbone carded a 57.

Along with DePaolo’s 35, the Rams got a round of 38 from Jack Brewster. Dylan Gillotti (41) and Jack DeJoseph (46) completed the card.

Cheshire and Sheehan, as well as Lyman Hall, will be back at The Farms on Tuesday for the SCC Championship. Cheshire was runner-up to Fairfield Prep a year ago.

The CCC Championship, which will include Platt and Maloney, plays next Thursday at Stanley Golf Course in New Britain. East Catholic is the defending champ.

The CIAC state tournaments run June 5-6, with the State Open following on Saturday, June 10 at Black Hall Club.
