ENFIELD — A trio of players scored two goals apiece and netminder Cassidy Colacicco made 11 saves, including on a penalty kick, to fuel the Maloney girls soccer team to 6-2 victory over Enfield on Monday night.
Makenzie McCormack, Bria Benigni and Mia Carbone had the goals for the Spartans.
Trailing 1-0, they took control with a three-goal outburst over a six-minute span late in the first half, then extended their lead to 6-1 with three more goals in a seven-minute span early in the second half.
In the midst of that, with the score at 4-1, Colacicco made the stop on the Enfield penalty kick.
Maloney improved to 2-1 with the CCC interdivisional win. Enfield slipped to 1-2.
Wilcox Tech 6, Grasso Tech 0: The Indians kept their undefeated start and shutout streak intact with the CTC triumph in Meriden.
Wilcox is now 4-0-1 and has outscored its first five opponents 17-0. Freshman goalie Joyce Vecchitto made three saves in her latest shutout.
On offense, the Indians got two goals apiece from Angela Zandri and Esmerelda Aguirre. Zandri also had an assist.
Ainhoe Onofre tallied a goal and an assist. Xochilt Rangel found the back of the net. Natalie Strout and Lindsay Ruiz each had an assist.
Sheehan 2, East Haven 0: Amy and Kate Casorla scored the goals and Trinity LaValley pitched the shutout in Sheehan’s SCC victory in Wallingford.
Amy Casorla connected in the first half in the 31st minute. Kate Casorla delivered the insurance with six minutes left to play.
Dylan Smith had an assist as the Titans outshot the Yellowjackets 14-5 and improved to 2-2-0. LaValley made five stops. Seralyn Lendroth had 10 for East Haven (1-3-0).
Amity 3, Lyman Hall 0: The Trojans, coming off a 2-0 Saturday night defeat in North Haven, dropped the SCC decision to the Spartans in Wallingford.
Amity (3-1) pulled away with a pair of late goals. Lyman Hall fell to 0-5.
Simsbury 2, Southington 1: A pair of third-quarter goals enabled the visiting Trojans to absorb Ava Coppola’s fourth-quarter strike for Southington.
Simsbury improved to 2-0 with the CCC crossover win. Southington fell to 1-2.
In the cages, Suraya Looney lassoed three saves for Simsbury and Morgan Lasek eyed up two for Southington.
Wilcox Tech 3, Platt Tech 0: Donna Negon served 13 points, including five aces, in the Tribe’s 25-5, 25-14, 25- 27 sweep of the Panthers in Meriden.
Wilcox is now 2-3, Platt Tech 0-6.
Janely Gonzalez added eight service points for the home team. Amara Cruz collected four assists and four kills, Gia Alvarez dished three aces and a pair of assists.
Maloney 3, Middletown 0: The Spartans stand at 4-1 following the CCC South-Colonial Division sweep in Meriden of the winless Blue Dragons (0-3).
Maloney flowed smoothly behind the setting of Gracey Massicotte (18 assists) and Rachael Case (10), winning by game scores of 25-11, 25-4 and 25-8.
Savannah Bernabucci hammered away with 16 Kills. Massicotte added six.
The Spartans were also lethal from the service line, led by five aces from Case.
Maloney got additional contributions from Lacie Cox (3 aces, 3 kills) and Peyton Pulaski (4 aces, 2 kills).
Southington 3, Simsbury 1: The Blue Knights (4-2) handed the Trojans (5-1) their first loss, winning by game scores of 25-11, 25-15, 17-25 and 25-16 in Simsbury.
Southington continues to get widespread contributions revolving around the setting of Haley Weiner (42 assists).
Morgan Birdsey put down a team-high 14 kills. Cami Wessels added nine and Katrina Possidento was good for seven.
Defensively, Southington got double-digit digs from Adriana Palmieri (16), Makenzie Marek (10) and Emma Pfanzelt (10). Birdsey kicked in eight.
At the service line, Marek put down five aces and Palmieri pocketed four.
Cheshire 3, Career 0: The Rams rolled to 5-0 beating the Panthers 25-7, 25-5 and 25-10 in a SCC match in Cheshire.
Katie Hick found the floor with nine aces. Jenna Stickney had five to go along with three kills.
Amelia Perlini kicked in six assists and three aces.
