SWIMMING: Meriden Co-op jets to 4-0; Lagamao lads lead LH



MERIDEN — One is unbeaten, the other still looling for its first win.

In either case, the Meriden Co-op and Lyman Hall/Coginchaug Co-op boys swim teams continue to get some solid performances from their top guys.

The Meriden squad improved to 4-0 this week with a CCC interdivisional victory in Manchester, while LH/Coginchaug slid to 0-5 with a SCC crossover setback Thursday evening to the Greater New Haven Co-op. Here are the details.

Meriden Co-op 84, Manchester/RHAM 65: Andrew Bellemare led off the winning 200-yard medley relay, then hopped right back in the pool to take the individual 200 freestyle and launch the city squad to the CCC victory in Manchester.

Bellemare took the 200 in 1:58.59 and combined with John Peralta, Mehdi Moumen and Mattia Fresta on the medley (1:53.83).

Peralta went on to win the 500 freestyle (5:22.75), while Moumen touched first in the 100 free (51.86) and had the fast time in the 100 backstroke (58.74). 

Meriden (4-0) also got first-place performances from Yaseen Ahmad in the 200 IM (2:30.30) and Jason Consiglio in the 100 butterfly (1:09.80).

Greater New Haven Co-op 95, Lyman Hall/Coginchaug 82: Jerick Lagamao won two individual events and swam on the first-place 200 medley relay to lead the Division II Trojans (0-5) in the SCC crossover meet at the Sheehan pool.

Lagamao touched in 23.51 to take the 50 freestyle. His time of 1:04.11 topped the field in the 100 breaststroke.

On the medley relay, Lagamao teamed with Jay Zhao, Ryan Christopoulos and his brother Kendrick Lagamao on a winning time of 1:52.61.

Kendrick Lagamao went on to capture the 100 backstroke in 1:02.91.
